Introduction: The UAEU Fellowship program stands as a testament to academic excellence by actively recruiting high-achieving graduate students in specific majors at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). This initiative aims to provide full and continuous financial support for exceptional students pursuing their doctoral studies at UAEU.
Benefits of the UAEU Fellowship Program:
a) Full Package:
- Full tuition waiver.
- Monthly stipend.
- Health insurance (if needed).
- Additional bonus options:
- Up to AED 3,000 from the supervisor’s external research project, or
- Up to AED 2,000 from the supervisor’s internal research project.
b) Basic Package:
- Full tuition waiver.
- Health insurance (if needed).
- Optional additional work as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) or Graduate Administrative Assistant (GAA) for up to 20 hours per week, subject to availability by the College or College of Graduate Studies (up to AED 4,000).
Eligibility Requirements:
To qualify for the UAEU Fellowship Program, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- GPA ≥ 3.3/4.0 in Master’s degree.
- No current employment or other financial sponsorship.
- Dissertation aligned with one of the UAE’s priority sectors: Renewable Energy, Transportation, Health, Water, Technology, or Space.
- Meet the PhD admission requirements.
PhD Admission Requirements:
The minimum requirements for admission to the PhD program include:
- A Master’s Degree in the discipline or related field from an accredited university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in the discipline or related field with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- A score of 6.5 or higher on the IELTS Academic exam or equivalent for programs where the main language of instruction is English.
- Additional requirements for Arabic language programs.

Duties and Expectations
a) Full Package:
- Maintain GPA ≥ 3.0 at the PhD level.
- Be enrolled full-time (min. of 9 credits/semester).
- Be available at UAEU full time.
- Commit to a minimum of 40 hours/week on courses and/or research project throughout the year.
- Commit to a minimum of 5 hours/week as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) or Graduate Administrative Assistant (GAA) at student’s home college or College of Graduate Studies during the first 3 semesters of active enrollment and 10 hours/week after the 3rd semesters of joining the PhD Program.
b) Basic Package:
- Maintain GPA ≥ 3.0 at the PhD level.
- Be enrolled full-time (min. of 9 credits/semester).
- Be available at UAEU full time.
- Commit to a minimum of 40 hours/week on courses and/or research project throughout the year.
Selection Criteria
The PhD Scholarship Awards are based on a competitive criteria which takes into account the credentials of the applicants (i.e. GPA, journal publications, conference presentations, patents, GRE score, recommendation letters, etc.) and where they have graduated from. Applicants are requested to submit copies of all their credentials at the time of application submission.
Duration
The duration for the scholarship program is 4 years
Deadline
The deadline for applications is the same as the deadline for admission applications to the graduate program.
